Tree Planting at Linwood Holton Elementary School

This was a collaborative effort that included the Virginia Department of Forestry, Master Naturalists – Riverine Chapter,  the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and Richmond Tree Stewards.  Ellen Shepard, a Linwood Holton parent and coordinator for the event, reports that  54 trees (large and small)  were planted and  95 students ages 5-10 participated.

The success of the project can be summed up by an E-mail sent to the Alliance by David Ruble  who sells bread at the Forest Hill Farmers Market…

“I heard some great comments from children and parents at the farmer’s market this weekend about the tree planting at Holton.  Sounds like everyone had a great experience and I wanted to pass this along to you!”
