Trees still need water

The recent rain was welcome after those hot, dry days but it was not enough to water young trees.  Most of Richmond received only 0.25 inches of rain in the last 7 days and  that doesn’t get water down to the root ball, so our current watering alert still says that conditions are dry.  As you’ve heard us say before…

New trees need at least 15 gallons of water every week

unless we get 1 inch of soaking rain.

Thanks to all who are helping water our new city trees.

Remember that every healthy tree is beneficial  so please remind your friends and neighbors to water their new trees as well.

Some new trees do not have bags. How can I get one? Eg N Meadow street, 300 block, west side just north of the north alley.
