The Community Roots Tree giveaway was held this past Saturday. We had a fantastic response and thanks to a grant from the Overton and Katherine Dennis Foundation, we were able to offer 104 trees free of charge for Richmond City residents who applied. Recipients picked up their trees in Byrd Park on Arbor Day. The Arbor Day program also included our Community Roots Tree Care Workshop, a tree planting and tree pruning demonstration, a guided tree walk in Byrd Park.  We wrapped up by reading the formal Richmond Arbor Day Proclamation signed by Mayor C. Dwight Jones to make it official!

You can add to our urban canopy: November is the best month for tree planting in Richmond. The ‘Tree Selection, Planting & Care’ section of our website has lots of helpful information on this topic.
You can find out more about our Tree Walks: Check out the ‘RVA Tree Walks’ tab on this website.
A big thank you to all who participated and happy planting!
