This past Saturday, Battery Park was the site for the annual David Tate Day of Service. Local professional arborists donated their time, equipment and expertise to perform needed maintenance on some of the majestic trees in the park. Tree Stewards, Virginia Master Naturalists, Friends of Battery Park and other volunteers participated in park clean-up and pruning of smaller trees and shrubs. Several new trees (sycamore, black gum and white oak) were planted as well. It’s always a great day when folks get together on a project like this!
