Richmond Tree Stewards will have 100 trees to give to homeowners in the City of Richmond through our Community Roots program, but we suspect that there are many more spaces for trees and many more citizens interested. So we want to let you know the city Department of Urban Forestry has an Adopt a Tree program available to citizens who would like a street tree.
- $50 for a tree
- the tree is planted for you
- applications are due by Sept 1
The Community Roots program
- trees are free
- you pick up and plant the tree
- applications open on August 19
Please note that the city will not be able to grind stumps or perform other work to prepare existing tree wells for planting this year. This is primarily due to the workload caused by recent storm damage.
