Registration for the Tree Steward Class of 2015 is closed.

Our class begins in January of each year and is a 10 week course that consisting of  lectures on a variety of topics such as tree biology, pathology, soils, planting, pruning and tree benefits.   There is hands-on training as well.  Twenty volunteer hours working along side certified tree stewards must be completed in order to become certified.  Certified stewards may assist with tree care for some trees on city property, guide community volunteers at planting projects and provide community education.   We also take on special projects when there is the opportunity;  our most recent project has been to create the RVA Tree Walks.
